AUSTIN -- A sweeping bill placing new restrictions on abortions, including a mandatory 24-hour wait before a pregnant woman can obtain an abortion, is among a number of new laws taking effect Thursday. . .
"It's been a tough year for reproduction freedom and pro-choice," said Kae McLaughlin, executive director of the Texas Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League. "The state leadership is in the hands of people who would deny women the right to choose." (read article)
